Young Stars Electrify the Crowds at Epic Tipperary ALLIANZ Cumann na mBunscol County Hurling Finals

The annual Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Hurling and Camogie Finals took place in Semple Stadium Thurles over two days on Thursday, 25th and Friday, 26th May 2017. We were blessed with beautiful sunshine over two action-packed days. Huge crowds turned out once again as we were treated to a feast of hurling over the two days in the ‘Cathedral of Hurling’. St. Mary’s CBS annexed another U13 A hurling title as they completed a very impressive two in a row. The U11 D hurling final between Mullinahone and Ardcroney is a game that will be talked about for years to come. Ardfinnan’s historic victory in the U13 F camogie final was another highlight. Thanks are due to Semple Stadium custodian David Hanley for the warm welcome he extended to all the schools and to Andy O’Gorman & Jimmy Purcell for ensuring that everything ran smoothly. A special thank you is also due to all of our referees plus our very capable Transition Year students for their professionalism and energy over the two days. Michael Skehan was also hugely helpful in greeting teams on their arrival. The Cumann na mBunscol Officers were assisted greatly in coordinating and organising everything prior to and during the finals by GDA Officer Andy Ryan. Seeing one’s school’s name up on the digital scoreboard also added to the prestige of the occasion for our schools. Half time and full time score updates were tweeted from all thirty finals and we had a great response to the games on Twitter from people all over the country. Michael Trehy videoed all the games and we thank him for his cooperation throughout. We would also like to thank all the spectators who donated so generously to our ‘voluntary contribution bucket’ over the two days. This money will be used to promote and develop our games. Most importantly, special praise should also be afforded to all the talented boys and girls who lit up a sun-drenched Semple Stadium over the two days. I would like to thank all the teachers and coaches of the teams for their co-operation preceding and during the finals. All sixty team lists were submitted on time prior to the big days. The teachers and coaches are setting a wonderful example for all our young boys and girls. Chairman, Paddy Kelly would like to extend his thanks to Tipperary’s County Board and of course to all those at Semple Stadium who contributed to making the Finals such an unforgettable experience for all the children who were fortunate enough to grace the hallowed turf this year. Roll on 2018!! Ní neart go cur le chéile.

Match 1Under 13 Roinn F Hurling Cappawhite 9-09 Gortnahoe 3-04

In the opening match of the 2017 Tipperary county hurling finals, it was to be Cappawhite and Gortnahoe stepping out onto the pitch in Semple Stadium to kick off the two day festival of sport. Cappawhite were the first to claim a score for their side with James Quinlan putting an impressively accurate long range puck of the ball squarely over the crossbar. This was answered in quick succession by Bobby Doheny and Conor Gleeson who scored a point a piece for the Gortnahoe side. It was a close contest between both sides but Cappawhite would lead going into the half-time. Liam Hayes, determined not to let the Cappawhite lead impact his teams spirits, quickly scored a goal in the second half from a free. It was Cappawhite who responded in kind though, scoring no less than five goals in the second half, most coming from the duo of Sam Carmody and James Quinlan. Cappawhite’s lead was ever increasing with Gortnahoe fighting hard to keep up. Despite their effects however, it was Cappawhite’s sheer determination and drive that would see them go on to win the opening match and claim the U13 F hurling title for themselves and their school.

The lethal pair of Robert Duffy and Killian Fitzgerald would return for Rathcabbin to find points apiece for their side and cement their victory over Skeheenarinky in a convincing fashion. Skeheenarinky, not ones to drop out early, battled bravely until the end but it was to be Rathcabbin’s day with their captain accepting the U11 Roinn F shield for their school.

Match 13 U13 Roinn A Camogie Anacarty 10-04 Holycross 0-01

The stadium had been electrified all day with high calibre games from every Roinn and as the teams of Anacarthy  and Holycross emerged from the tunnel, enthusiastic and ready to contest the Roinn A camogie title for the 2017 season the supporters lifted the roof. Cora Heffernan claimed the first score of the day for Anacarthy with a long solo into the backline of Holycross and a determined puck of the ball into the back of the Holycross net. Michelle Dwan responded in kind, scoring the first for Holycross when an accurately placed long ball over the bar started Holycross on the scoreboard. The first half of this game was for either team to claim. Anacarthy emerged onto the field for the second half with a determined game face. Orla O’Brien flicking the ball past the Holycross goalkeeper, Cora Heffernan would follow quickly with goals of her own to give Anacarthy a convincing lead. Holycross, veterans of numerous county finals at this stage, didn’t let these scores shake their confidence however. Again however, Cora Heffernan, supported by Ella Cummins, finding the Holycross net with a close range puck of the ball after a powerful run through her opponent’s backline. Three successive goals from the Anacarthy side would ensure their eventual victory over Holycross to the delight of their supporters and coaches.

As the day was drawing to an end on day one on the 2017 Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Finals the Ardcroney and Clonmore sides were to take to the field and prove that the future was bright for Tipperary hurling. Jack Gleeson took to the field quickly for Ardcroney and rocketed past the Clonmore defence and rattled the back of the net to the roars of the Ardcroney supporters. A combination of Robert Lee and James Ryan responded with 0-05 for their side and kept Clonmore in the game. Going into the half time it was to be a very close game. Upon their return to the field of play both sides were determined that would not be the case when the final whistle blew. Jack Mulcahy, supported by Eamon Coonan and Seán Hayes would score no less than 1-03 for Ardcroney. Tomás Collier would be one of his side’s top scorer for Clonmore with the help of James Ryan  and Patrick Hickey. Ardcroney would go on to lift the shield and claim victory for their side.

As these two teams entered the field of play no one could have imagined the epic game that was to be played out. Two of the smaller schools that would play in Semple Stadium over the two day event, this game was to be one of the highest scoring and most thrilling games of the entire 2017 Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Finals. Keelan Ryan would draw first blood for Clonoulty and score in quick succession no less that 1-02 for his side to the delight of the supporters present. Cillian Hacket and Charlie English responded quick to the challenge laid down and scored 2-04 between them for Ballyporeen, heaping pressure on Clonoulty. Jack Ryan-Murphy showed the skill of the Clonoulty side however with a point from a free most senior intercounty players would struggle with. Ballyporeen was by no means about to roll over. Cillian Hackett notched up 0-02 in the second half that would keep Ballyporeen spirits high. Finbarr Ryan and Abbie Ryan broke through the Ballyporeen defence and put points over the bar to the delights of the Clonoulty supporters. After a hard fought battle the dust settled and it was to be Clonoulty who would claim the title for their side after some tremendous displays of hurling determination from both sides.

Match 16 U13 Roinn G Hurling Ballycahill 10-10 Lisronagh 2-08

As evening fell on the first day of the 2017 Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Finals it was to be the turn of some of the smallest schools in the county to take to the field and though they were small in number they were giants in skill and determination as the whistle blew to signal the start of the last game of the day. Jimmy Lahart scored a long range point to claim the first score for Ballycahill. This was quickly responded to by Jack Lane for Lisronagh. It seemed that both teams were evenly matched and that the game would come right down to the final whistle. Jim Ryan and Sam Malone heaped pressure on the Lisronagh side rattling the back of the net five times in the first half. Dire Luttrell and Killian Butler tried gallantly to keep pace scoring 1-01 from play for their side but it was Ballycahill who would lead into the second half. Dire Luttrell didn’t let this dampen his sides spirts however; emerging onto the field for the second half refreshed and ready for a battle. He would go on to score 1-02 for Lisronagh with his hard work. Jimmy Lahart fought back for Ballycahill and supported by Jim Ryan and Sam Malone managed a goal each. These scores would go on to seal victory for Ballycahill. Lisronagh fought hard until the final whistle but as it blew so too did the winds of fortune for Ballycahill. They would go on to claim victory for their side and claim the title for their side. It was a triumphant end to a great day of hurling prowess in Semple Stadium.

The U13 H hurling final brought together Kilkeary NS and Kilkeary NS in what was an intriguing spectacle from start to finish. This was a very high scoring spectacle with both sides finding their rhythm from the very start. An early Michael Coffey goal settled any nerves the Killea players may have had as he dispatched a fine ground stroke to the Kilkeary net. David Conway responded with a fine point for Kilkeary. When Michael Coffey banged in another goal for Killea from close range, it looked as if the game had the potential to get away from a fine Kilkeary side. Kilkeary had other ideas however and came thundering back into the game to leave a half time score of Killea 7-02 Kilkeary 3-07. The second half was no less entertaining and two great points from Aodhna Barrett and Michael Coffey put the seal on a famous factory for a superb Killea side. No doubt this fine young Kilkeary side will be back in the stadium in the very near future. Ben O’Dwyer and David Conway were two players who really caught the eye for a superb Kilkeary side while Michael Coffey turned in a ‘player of the match’ display for Killea.

Borrisoleigh and Tipperary CBS served up another classic in this absorbing U13 Roinn C Hurling decider. An early point from Tipperary Primary Game star Paddy McCormack got Borrisoleigh off to a good start. He soon followed this up with a superb goal which gave Tipperary CBS goalie Ben Dudley no chance. Soon after this Matthew Kavanagh rifled a superb shot to the Borrisoleigh net to send the Tipp CBS supporters into dreamland! Borrisoleigh were to have the better off the opening half from this point on however and entered the half time interval with a comfortable eleven point cushion. To their eternal credit Tipp CBS continued to put it up to their North Tipp rivals but could never get close enough to exert serious pressure on this star studded Borrisoleigh side. Eoin Dooley turned in a ‘player of the match’ display for Tipp CBS while the aforementioned Paddy McCormack was well supported by Eamon Groome and Darragh Chute among others for Borrisoleigh.

This game got off to an explosive start when team captain Aisling Ryan buried the ball to the net from 20 yards out to settle early nerves for this superb Ballylooby side. Ballylooby gave what could only be described as almost the perfect team performance with all their players contributing handsomely to the victory. Borrisoleigh never gave up however and fought valiantly to the bitter end. Aisling Ryan and ‘player of the match’ Clara English did the most of the scoring for this superb Ballylooby outfit. They were ably supported by their terrific teammates. A first half goal from Hope Bergin was one of the highlights for this promising Borrisoleigh side. Borrisoleigh’s Emma Kelly and Jane Delaney gave ‘Player of the Match’ performances for Borrisoleigh.

Coaches: Siobhán Doran & Deirdre Corcoran.

Two giants of the Tipperary camogie world collided in this absorbing U11 A camogie decider. This game was eagerly anticipated as very little had separated the teams in an earlier group game. Holycross appeared to be cruising early on but a fine goal from Anna Murphy gave the Boherlahan girls renewed hope as they entered the half time interval. The second half was no less entertaining with both teams throwing caution to the wind. Another Anna Murphy goal for Boherlahan kept her team in touch but two late goals; including one clinical finish from Holycross’ Megan Kelly secured victory for this star studded Holycross side. Eimear Dwan produced a ‘Player of the Match’ display for Boherlahan and was ably assisted by her impressive teammates.

Coaches: Niamh Molumphy, Gráinne Bourke & Liam O'Sullivan.

Burgess arguably saved their performance of the year for the biggest stage of all when they overcame a very impressive Ardfinnan side. Both schools produced terrific displays which will live long in the memory. Burgess’ Laura Kennedy (4 points) and Marie Ryan (goal) exchanged first half scores with Ardfinnan’s Clodagh Bourke (2 points) and Rebekah Coughlan (1 point) to leave four points between the teams at half time. The second half produced some superb free flowing play with both sides playing with complete abandon. Emer O’Mahoney’s goal from a ground stroke had ‘The Maroon’s’ fans in a state of brief delirium. However late scores from Lily McDonnell and Laura Kennedy secured a famous victory for a superb Burgess team. Laura Kennedy was nominated as ‘Player of the Match’ for Burgess NS.

Match 22 U11 A Hurling Templemore 2-12 Cashel 2-11

Principal: Kieran Healy. Coaches: Conor Doyle & Denis Kelly.

St. Colmcille’s Templemore and St John the Baptist BNS Cashel served up the proverbial humdinger in this U11 A decider. These teams traded blows like gladiators in the colosseum in what was a frenetic opening half!! This was a game for the ages between two teams who have dined regularly at the top table in recent years. The level of skill on display from both teams was of a particularly high standard. Cashel BNS were a terrific stick passing outfit and their ‘heads up’ style of play had them on the front foot for much of the opening half. Templemore were equally impressive and their high fielding was obviously something they have worked plenty on in training. Nine points from the stick of Oisín O’Donoghie and an Aidan Skeffington rocket into the top corner of the Templemore net were first half highlights for the Cashel boys. Templemore had a more even spread of scores throughout the game however with seven different players getting on the score sheet. This was arguably a crucial factor in tipping the scales in their favour by the very minimum after a ferociously contested period of extra time. Cashel’s Oisín O’Donoghue is definitely a young player with a very bright future. He gave an exhibition of point scoring throughout. In a star studded Templemore side, Ned Delaney produced a ‘Player of the Match’ display in goals. Another young player with a bright future no doubt!

Match 23 U 11 E Camogie Clonoulty 2-11 Littleton 3-02

Paige Thackaberry, 10. Kelsey Conway, 11. Ella Lee, 12. Chloe Delaney, Principal: Christy Clancy, Coaches: Christy Clancy, Noreen Delaney & Shane Dempsey.

Clonoulty N.S. Under 11 Roinn E Camogie Team: 10. Sophie Maher, 2. Lyla Murphy, 3. Clodagh Ryan, 6. Aoife Bourke, 4. Andrea Quirke, 5. Rebecca Riordan, 7. Emma Ely. Principal: Tommy O'Brien. Coach: Cora Hennessy.

This U11 E camogie decider was keenly contested from start to finish. Littleton were back in a county final for the first time in years and brought a ferocious work-rate and desire on the day. On this occasion however, they came up against a very hungry Clonoulty side who were just a little more clinical on the day. Ciara Shelly produced a performance that Littleton supporters are unlikely to forget in a hurry and her final tally of 3-02 was all the more impressive having amassed it against such a resolute Clonoulty defence. Former Tipperary camogie player Cora Hennessey had obviously put in the work on the training field with the Clonoulty girls and after entering the interval 7 points in front, it provided them with enough of a cushion to see the game out in the face of some serious pressure being exerted by a super Littleton side. ‘Player of the Match’ Aoife Bourke’s second half scores were instrumental in securing the title for a superb Clonoulty side.

Match 24 U 13 F Camogie Ardfinnan 9-01 Kiladangan 1-00

Principal: Máiréad Condon. Coaches: Niamh Molumphy, Gráinne Bourke & Liam O'Sullivan.

Kiladangan NS U13 Roinn F Camogie Team: 1. Aoife Gleeson, 2. Chloe Culhane, 3. Laoise ní Riain, 4. Olivia Mulhall, 5. Emma Cahalan, 6. Charlotte Collier, 7. Cara Mulcahy, 8. Anna Schweitnitz, 9. Ally Ryan, 10. Kate Ryan, 11. Roisin Connolly, 12. Ellie Courtney, Principal. Darragh Egan. Coaches: Patricia Hogan and Patrick Gallagher.

This was another entertaining game involving two very skillful teams. Kiladangan had plenty of possession on the day but didn’t have that little bit of luck you sometimes need when it comes to converting chances on county final day. Ardfinnan in sharp contrast took the vast majority of scoring opportunities on offer to run out convincing winners in the end. A first half hat-trick from Caoimhe O’Mahoney saw the Maroons take a ten point lead into the interval. Charlotte Collier’s strike to the roof of the Ardfinnan net was a wonderful first half highlight for the Kiladangan girls. Ardfinnan continued to take their chances in the second half and scores from Molly Purcell, Katie O’Connor and Clodagh Bourke laid the foundations for a historic victory for the Maroons.

The opening half of this U13 D camogie decider was action packed with some superb shooting on display from both teams. ‘Player of the Match’ Khya Lynch was a player who really caught the eye for Corville in the opening half as she finished the half with 2-01 to her name. A Lorna Ryan strike on the run and a ground stroke from Kate Ferncombe produced two superb goals for the Rossmore girls. Corville came out of the blocks very quickly at the start of the second half and further goals from Khya Lynch and Ceola Bergin ensured a famous victory for the Roscrea girls. A volleyed goal from Kate Ferncombe was the highlight of the second half for an excellent and determined Rossmore team.

When Ryan Thompson cut through the Golden defence like a knife through butter to finish to the back of the Golden net, things were looking ominous for the Golden boys. Nevertheless, they responded well with some terrific scores from Tipperary Primary Game star Ben Currivan to ensure Golden were very much in the hunt entering the half time break. The second half saw the Golden defence get to grips with the Corville attack and further scores from Gavin Dalton, Ben Currivan and Billy Loveridge ensured a famous victory for a Golden side who laid the foundations for this victory over the previous few years with some excellent performances in the U11 competitions in recent years. Corville contributed hugely to this game and ‘Player of the Match’ Cian Carey produced a superb display which won’t be forgotten anytime soon!

Match 27 U11 D Hurling Mullinahone 2-11 Ardcroney 3-07

Ardcroney NS Under 11 Roinn D Hurling Team: 1. Ray Quinlivan, 2. Eamonn Coonan, 3. Cathal McIntyre, 4. Shane Cleary, 5. Brian O'Meara, 6. Billy O'Brien, 7. Michael Cleary, 8. Paul Molloy, 9. Cian Hayes, 10. Diarmuid Healy, 11. Peter Flannery, 12. Aaron McGrath, 13. Lucas Jones, 14. Evan Comerford, 15. Stasic Setikas, 16. Eoghan Dunne, 17. Scott O'Brien, 18. Jack McGrath,19. Raymond Dunne, 20. Tommy O'Meara Principal : Martin Ryan. Coach: Martin Ryan.

Mullinahone N.S. Under 11 Roinn D Hurling Team: 1. Ned O’Meara, 2. Cillian Direen, 3. Adam Doyle,

4. Matthew Direen, 5. Sam Rowan, 6. Liam Doyle, 7. Pierce Vaughan, 8. Philomena Gillman, 9. Finnian Morrissey.

This was another match that was eagerly anticipated by both neutrals and involved parties alike. Both teams entered the final on the back of some very encouraging recent displays. The opening half was end to end as both teams peppered each other’s goals with powerful shots. When Nenagh Éire Óg rising star Billy O’Brien fired a rocket of a shot to the top corner of the Mullinahone net, the large Ardcroney contingent celebrated loudly in the old stand. Sam Rowan scored an equally impressive first half goal for Mullinahone as he raced half the field with the ball on his stick before striking the ball to the top corner of the net. Mullinahone led by one point at the half time interval. The second half was no less entertaining as both teams played with great freedom. A kicked goal from the superb Michael Cleary had Ardcroney believing they had one hand on the title but late scores from the mercurial Sam Rowan and Matthew Direen wrestled the title away from them. This was one of the best under 11 finals we have ever seen. Ardcroney were very gracious losers and no doubt will return to the winner’s enclosure in the very near future. Mullinahone are a terrific team and in ‘Player of the Match’ Sam Rowan, they had a player of great promise who was arguably the difference between the two teams on the day.

Match 28 U11 E Hurling Gortnahoe NS 5-10 Donaskeigh 5-08

Gortnahoe N.S. Under 11 Roinn E Hurling Team: 1. Lorcan Bourke, 2. Patrick Norton, 3. Jason Kelly, 4. Conor Gleeson, 5. Damien Corbett, 6. Kevin Laffan, 7. Eamonn Long, 8. David Stanley, 9. Lee Norton. Principal: David O’Dwyer

Donaskeigh NS Under 11 Roinn E Hurling team 1. Sean Farrell 2.Donnacha Cleary 3.Joseph O Dwyer 4.Adam Daly 5.Philip O Neill 6.Sean Cannon 7. Evan Slattery 8. Michael Ryan 9. David Kingston.

This U11 E hurling decider had everything the purists would like to see with first time hurling, superb fielding in the air and unerring accuracy a strong feature of both school’s performances. An early Damien Corbett goal really settled the Gortnahoe boys. The response from Donaskeigh was emphatic with goals from Evan Slattery and Joseph O’Dwyer signalling their early intent. Donaskeigh led by three points at the break. Two second half goals from the stick of Philip O’Neill threatened to secure the title for a superb Donaskeigh side but a late Damien Corbett goal following a clean catch and strike ultimately secured a historic title for the boys from Gortnahoe. It was an absorbing contest between two really skilful teams.

Match 29 U11 D1/E1 Hurling Lisvernane 5-06 Clerihan 0-07

Clerihan N.S Under 11 'B' Roinn D1 / E1 Hurling Panel: 1. Cormac Brennan, 2. Evan Hennessy, 3. Cillian Begley, 4. Aidan Freir, 5. John Cronin, 6. Adam Tobin Purcell, 7. Ryan O'Sullivan, 8. Sean Wall, 9. Rory Keeley, 10. Aaron Mullins, 11. Aaron O'Dwyer, 12. Michael Dempsey, 13. Jake Feehan.

Principal: Padraig Fahey. Coaches: Aodan Wrenn, Seamus Heffernan, Shane Luby.

Lisvernane NS U11 RoinnD1/E1 Hurling team 1. Joe Howard, 2 Tomás O’Shea, 3. Michael Russell, 4. Cillian Barlow, 5. Sean Bourke, 6. Paddy Chapman, 7. Paudie Bourke, 8. Paul Cunningham, 9. Paddy Russell, 10. Cian Guerin, 11. Padraic O’Brien. 12. Donnacha O’Shea. Principal: Patricia English. Coaches: Paul Sexton, Tom Howard & Mary Kelly.

Lisvernane entered the final as raging hot favourites following a very impressive showing at a blitz in Golden prior to this final. The boys from Clerihan NS had not read the script however and really matched their impressive opponents in the early first half exchanges. The Clerihan full back line were under considerable pressure in the opening half but withstood most of what was thrown at them with supreme composure. Young 3rd class goalie Cormac Brennan pulled off a string of fine saves to keep Clerihan NS well in contention at the break. A superb Paudie Bourke goal was the highlight of the opening half for this superb Lisvernane side. Lisvernane were an inspired team in the second half and clinical scores from Paddy Chapman, Cillian Barlow and Sean Bourke ensured wild celebrations at the final whistle as they celebrated a landmark day in the cathedral of hurling. ‘Players of the Match’ Cormac Brennan of Clerihan NS and Paddy Chapman of Lisvernane NS were ably supported by their terrific teammates.

Match 30 U13 E Camogie Fethard 5-04 Gortnahoe  1-01

Holy Trinity N.S. Fethard Roinn U 13 E Camogie Team: 1.Ciara O' Meara, 2.Lily O' Mahony, 3.Grainne Murray, 4.Ciara Spillane, 5.Kelly Ryan, 6.Heather Spillane, 7.Gillian Burke, 8.Aine Connolly, 9.Sarah Smith, 10.Kaycie Ahearne, 11.Shakira Bradshaw, 12.Holly Hayes. Principal: Triona Morrison. Coaches:Rebecca Meagher, Eileen Fitzgerald, Tommy Sheehan.

Gortnahoe N.S. Under 13 Roinn E Camogie Team: 1. Ellen Norton, 2. Aoife Rochford, 3. Therese Rochford, 4. Laura Purcell, 5. Aoife Lanigan, 6. Niamh Lanigan, 7. Louise Bergin, 8. Claire O’Meara, 9. Rachel Sheedy, 10. Eimear Nolan, 11. Rachel Slattery, 12. Kayleigh Moore, 13. Dolores Laffan, 14. Debbie Meaney, 15. Áine Power, 16. Chloe Kenny, 17. Aoibhe Mhuire Lawlor, 18. Sophie Lawlor, 19. Ava Maher. Principal: David O’Dwyer

In our final match of the 2017 Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol hurling finals a fine Fethard side got the better of a very determined Gortnahoe team. Fethard had the better of the opening exchanges and two Gillian Burke goals saw them head to the break with an eight point lead. It was a lead they would never relinquish. An amazing goal from Gortnahoe’s Laura Purcell briefly stemmed the tide but it was the Fethard girls who finished stronger and two goals from Heather Spillane and a late Kelly Ryan point were the icing on the cake for the girls from Fethard as they finished the game out in style. There were star performers all over the field for both teams. ‘Players of the Match’ Lily O’Mahony (Fethard) and Claire O’Meara (Gortnahoe) are two players we’re sure to hear much more about in the years to come. It was a landmark day for all associated with Holy Trinity N.S. Fethard.

COUNTY HURLING FINALS 2017 TEAMLIST SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

posted 12 May 2017, 08:26 by Birt Noe

A chairde,

Any schools who have qualified for the finals please submit your team list ASAP. (See team list submission guidelines below)

On arrival for your final, a stadium or Cumann na mBunscol/stadium official will direct you to your dressing room. All schools should arrive at Semple Stadium at least 30 minutes before throw in.

Your team photo will be taken in the tunnel.

You can name as many subs as you want on your panel. You must use a minimum of 2 subs at halftime in U11 games.

The amount of subs introduced at U13 is at your own discretion.

All your subs MUST sit in the dugouts while games are in progress.

You are permitted to have 5 people helping the team on the day e.g. Teachers, coaches, etc. These people will be provided with respect bibs on the day from Cumann na mBunscol.

At the end of the match, the tradition is to take a photograph of the two "Players of the Match" together (One from each school). If you could select a Player of the Match at the end of the game and send her over to me, that would be great.

The County Newspapers i.e. Tipp Star, Guardian, Nationalist, Premier People  & South Tipp Today usually publish a supplement on the finals in the weeks following the games, so keep an eye out for these.

Finally, I wish all of you a most enjoyable day and I hope your players enjoy themselves to the maximum.

Below is an explanation re: Submission of teams in the correct format as per Tipperary Yearbook guidelines.

SUBMISSION OF TEAMS FOR 2017C OUNTY HURLING FINALS (VERY IMPORTANT)

A chairde, Congrats to all schools who have already reached County Finals which are scheduled to take place on Thursday/Friday, May 25th/26th in Semple Stadium. It is very important that all schools adhere to certain formatting criteria when submitting team lists for this year's Finals. It makes life much easier for Cumann na mBunscol Officers, Sports Editors and the people on The Tipperary Yearbook committee if all teams are typed using the same format. We have a huge volume of teams involved this year; 60 plus Teams in total. All the teams are printed in the Tipp Yearbook and also appear in the Tipperary Newspapers' special Co. Final Supplement/Spread. Please use the following criteria when sending in teams:
  • Capital Letters for first letter of surname and christian name.
  • Number each player (They must wear this number on the day).
  • Name of School & competition precedes teamlist e.g. Kerry CBS Under 13 Roinn G Hurling Team: 1. Tom Ryan, 2. Joe Ryan, 3. Liam King, 4. Mike Flynn, etc. The format should be just like above i.e. Name of School Team and Competition followed by a colon and a space. Then it's number, full stop, player's name, comma and a space. Just like above: e.g. Kerry CBS Under 13 Roinn G Hurling Team: 1. Tom Ryan, 2. Joe Ryan, 3. Liam King, 4. Mike Flynn, etc. No brackets are necessary after numbers. Font should be Verdana Style and size 10. Please list school principal and teachers/coaches after your panel e.g. 17. Tom Ryan, 18. Mike Quinn, 19. Liam Dunne. Principal: Joe Doyle. Coaches: Liam Egan & Mary Jones.
  • DO NOT SEND IN TEAMS IN VERTICAL FORMAT PLEASE.
  • Please put name of school team in subject bar of email e.g. Kerry CBS Under 13 Roinn G Hurling Team.
  • Please get your team lists in to me ASAP. All team lists should be emailed to me on the day your team qualifies for the finals.
  • There are 30 PLUS finals this year with 60 PLUS different team lists. We want all the children's names to appear properly in reports for newspapers, website & Yearbook. Your cooperation with this is much appreciated.
  • Team lists should be emailed to Tipperary Cumann na mBunscol PRO John Manley Dualla NS at  pro.cnmb.tipperary@gaa.ie

Best of luck to all finalists.

Le meas,

John,
