2012 ALLIANZ CUMANN NA MBUNSCOL ‘YOUNG REPORTERS’ COMPETITION

Calling all budding young Sports Reporters! Would you like to see your name in print?
We are looking for articles or accounts about Cumann na mBunscol activities in your school. Could you write a short report on a school match, training tips, humorous stories or other interesting material with a Cumann na mBunscol link? It could be about Hurling, Football, or Athletics.
A special “Reporter of the Week” link has been added to our website: http://www.cumannnambunscol.tipperary.gaa.ie/. I would encourage all teachers to have writing competitions and to pick a winning entry and submit it to Tipperary Cumann na mBunscol PRO John Manley of Dualla NS at pro.cnmb.tipperary@gaa.ie. I will then attempt to pick a winning entry. The pupil’s match report will then appear in the “Reporter of the Week” section of our website and the winner’s name will also be announced on Tipp FM. The following criteria should be adhered to:

·         Entry is to be typed and emailed to: pro.cnmb.tipperary@gaa.ie

·         Capital Letters should be used for each name in the title.

·         Font Style: Verdana Size: 10

·         It must be formatted and spell checked. There must be a space after full stops and commas.

·         Report should have a title: e.g. “ UNFORGETTABLE SCENES AS FORMER PUPILS BRING ALL IRELAND MINOR CUP TO CASHEL BNS”

·         Match Report should contain Score, Venue, Referee’s Name and Teamlist(s) where possible.

·         Praise should be given to both teams.

·         No paragraphs.

·         It should be proof-read and checked for grammatical errors.

·         It should be no longer than two hundred words.

·         Pupil’s name, school, teacher and class should accompany entry. It must be emailed by your teacher, school principal or school secretary.

KEY DATES AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2012 BY AODAN WRENN

The Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol County Hurling and Camogie Finals will take place on Thursday June 7th and Friday June 8th, in Semple Stadium Thurles. These are the dates agreed with the Semple Stadium Committee. They have put these dates into their book and will put them up on the Semple Stadium Website. There is a Munster Senior Football match in Semple Stadium on 26th May. Community Games are in the Stadium on June 4th. There is a Munster Senior hurling match there on 27th May with the backup replay date of June 3rd. There is a Munster Senior hurling championship match there on June 17th with the replay back up date of June 23rd. Therefore the 7th and 8th of June are the suitable dates for our County Finals. Schools should book school tours with these dates in mind. There should not be any change to the dates, unlike last year. The Stadium Committee said that the Munster Council can fix matches at a later stage but that the 7th and 8th of June will be ok for Allianz Cumann na mBunscol's County Finals. The Handball issue has been resolved (just at the weekend) and there will be no change to the Handball Competition format this year. It will be run the very same way as last year. The Handball entry forms will be sent to schools as soon as possible. Just a reminder to schools that there will be no INTO Mini Sevens Competitions this year (as was decided by the Officer Board in September). A draw will be made by the Officer Board within the next few weeks of all schools who registered with us (by paying the 30 euro registration fee). The schools that come out of the hat will get to choose a player to go to Croke Park to play in the Mini Sevens exhibition match during the All Ireland Series. Schools who fail to pay the fee will not be put into the draw. The Primary Game 2012 Selection information will be sent to all schools, by post and by email, very shortly. Gradings and Fixtures will be sent to schools by email ONLY from now on. Any school who hasn't given us their email address may do so by emailing secretary.cnmb.tippeary@gaa.ie, with it, as soon as possible. The 2012 Under 13 Hurling and Camogie Fixtures will be emailed to schools next week. The Under 11 fixtures will be emailed to schools within the next few weeks.
