Ardfinnan  played  out  their third  game  of  the  Championship  recently. Ballylooby were  the  opposition and mercifully  the  skies  stayed  clear throughout  the  game in  Ardfinnan. It was  a  low  scoring  game, the  first  half  being  very  even. Ardfinnan's  full  backs John  Condon, Darragh  O  Leary  and  Conor  Gallagher were  impressive  and  Alan  Walsh(0-4)  was  doing  well  and  having  a great  tussle  with strong  full  back  Dylan  Smith,  who  played  very  well in  both  halves. Alan  had  to  come  off  midway  through the  second  half  due  to  a blow  to  the  shin,  which  meant  his team  mates  had  to  up  their  games  to  hold  onto the  lead  as  Ballylooby  pushed  hard  for  scores. In  the  second  half the  crucial  score  was  a  James  Condon  goal  for  The  Maroons. James  deserved it  for  his  constant  high  workrate. Also  very  good  for  Ardfinnan  were  Michael  Cunningham  and  centre-fielder  supreme  Oisín  Ryan. Others  on  the  team/panel  were  Conor  Burke, Brett Adams, Darragh  O  Brien, Seán  Doyle, Joseph  Betts, Luke  O  Brien  and Emmet  Cowan. It's  a pity  that  the  maroons  are  out after  losing only  one  match....  but  the  6th  class  boys  can  go out  with  many  fond  memories  of wearing  the  school  colours  proudly. Best  for  Ballylooby  were Paddy  Doyle  who  gave  a  great display  at  midfield, Ben  O  Regan  who  switched  to  goals  in  the  2nd  half  and  stopped  many  an  attack  and  Captain  Colin    Gorman  who  led  by  example  throughout.

Our County Hurling Finals will take place in Semple Stadium on  Thursday/Friday June 7th/8th. Please take note of this date.

The hurling match in our school was played on Friday 21st of April at 1.30pm. Both teams played very well and put in a great sporting effort; it was played with a good mentality and always played fast and with a good, skilful pace. It only took two minutes for the scoring to start with a great point from Brendan Murphy. All the team put in a great effort. Sadly one of our best players Brendan Murphy had to be substituted off with a leg injury. The second half came and with Rossmore hot on our heels with a two point deficit.  We started to pull away from our opposition winning by ten points, but we couldn’t write them off with a superb goal from their corner forward In the end we were slightly too strong for the opposing team Rossmore.  With the help of our coaches and teachers, we were victorious. We couldn’t have played without our very generous referee John Barry who refereed the game to a high standard.  All in all it was a great match and we hope to meet them again in the future.
