WELL DONE TO THE TIPP MINORS

Well done to the Tipperary Minor Hurlers who secured another All Ireland Minor Hurling Title when defeating a spirited Dublin side last Sunday in Croke Park. Many of this team performed in the Primary Game for Tipperary as recently as 2008. Comhghairdeas.

Clerihan N.S. GAA Update. By Aodan Wrenn.

The young boys and girls footballers from Clerihan National School, in the past few weeks, have been busy preparing for the up-coming Football Competitions. The school will send out teams in Under 13 Football, Under 11 Football, Under 13 Ladies Football and Under 11 Ladies Football. Training for each team has been on-going and all teams are eagerly awaiting the commencement of their respective Championships. The young footballers are really putting in a lot of effort, and are enjoying training for the big games that lie ahead. The Under 13 Ladies Footballers played a challenge match against Rosegreen National School last week. The match took place in Rosegreen. The young girls played very well against a strong Rosegreen side before losing on a score of 4-4 to 3-3. It was a very exciting game. Clerihan's panel is made up of 19 players, and each girl got to play in the game. It was a very good work-out for the girls, as they prepare for their Roinn B Championship Blitz on Tuesday 2nd October in Moyle Rovers. We wish the girls all the best in that Blitz. The Clerihan panel was as follows: Orla O'Donnell, Lisa Walsh, Fiona McGrath, Mia Cooney, Kate Corcoran, Hannah Phelan, Emma Hennessy, Kayleigh Flannery, Leah Clancy, Aisling Morrissey, Niamh Laste, Julie Burke, Michelle Cronin, Zoe Power, Abbie Conron, Megan O'Donnell, Joanne Morrissey, Samantha Buckley, Hollie Connors. The Under 13 Boys Footballers played Ardfinnan in a challenge match in Ardfinnan on Wednesday 26th September, and had a very impressive victory. All the Clerihan players played very well but they all know that a lot of hard work lies ahead if they are to have a good Championship campaign. The boys will play their first Championship match next week. We wish them all the best in that match as they take on near neighbours Rathkeevin. The Clerihan Under 13 panel for the game was as follows: John Mulcahy, Cian Mullane, Oisin Casey, Joey Fortune, Callum Meagher, Riain Quigley, Jack O'Rourke, Liam McGrath, Tim Norris, Evan Mullins.

2012/2013 ALLIANZ CUMANN NA MBUNSCOL ‘YOUNG REPORTERS’ COMPETITION

Calling all budding young Sports Reporters! Would you like to see your name in print?
We are looking for articles or accounts about Cumann na mBunscol activities in your school. Could you write a short report on a school match, training tips, humorous stories or other interesting material with a Cumann na mBunscol link? It could be about Hurling, Football, or Athletics.
A special “Reporter of the Week” link has been added to our website: http://www.cumannnambunscol.tipperary.gaa.ie/. I would encourage all teachers to have writing competitions and to pick a winning entry and submit it to Tipperary Cumann na mBunscol PRO John Manley of Dualla NS at pro.cnmb.tipperary@gaa.ie. I will then attempt to pick a winning entry. The pupil’s match report will then appear in the “Reporter of the Week” section of our website and the winner’s name will also be announced on Tipp FM. The following criteria should be adhered to:

·         Entry is to be typed and emailed to: pro.cnmb.tipperary@gaa.ie

·         Capital Letters should be used for each name in the title.

·         Font Style: Verdana Size: 10

·         It must be formatted and spell checked. There must be a space after full stops and commas.

·         Report should have a title: e.g. “ UNFORGETTABLE SCENES AS FORMER PUPILS BRING ALL IRELAND MINOR CUP TO CASHEL BNS”

·         Match Report should contain Score, Venue, Referee’s Name and Teamlist(s) where possible.

·         Praise should be given to both teams.

·         No paragraphs.

·         It should be proof-read and checked for grammatical errors.
