FOOTBALL COMPETITIONS & REPORTING

Our football competitions have now begun in earnest. We are encouraging all schools and any “budding journalists” to send in match reports from their upcoming games. We would love to receive reports from schools on all you do to promote Gaelic Games within your school. We would encourage all schools to get their senior pupils to submit reports for our weekly match report competition. Schools could get pupils to write about a special GAA event taking place in their school e.g. The Tipp Minor Footballers Visiting With The Cup, Medal Presentation for School Leagues, School Player of the Year Article, etc. We look forward to hearing from you.

UPDATED LIST OF REGISTERED SCHOOLS AS OF 03/10/11

All schools wishing to compete in Cumann na mBunscol activities for 2011 are encouraged to send the €30 Registration Fee to Mr. Jerry McDonnell, Treasurer Tipperary Cumann na mBunscol, 25 Ballingarrane, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary as soon as possible. This very reasonable fee allows schools to participate in all Cumann na mBunscol activities for 2011. It also ensures that your school benefits from the subsidised Equipment Scheme. This is an annual payment and should be paid annually. It is NOT a one off payment. If schools could see to it that this fee is paid, it would be much appreciated. The following schools have paid their annual registration fee for 2011. If your school is not on this list, the €30 Registration fee is due immediately. In accordance with a recent motion that was passed, a school must pay the €30 Registration fee before participating in Cumann na mBunscol, Co. IMPORTANT INFORMATION RE: ALLIANZ CUMANN NA MBUNSCOL MATCH REPORT COMPETITION

For the 2011/2012 School Year, Tipperary Cumann na mBunscol will be running a “Reporter of the Week” competition. A special “Reporter of the Week” link has been added to our website: http://www.cumannnambunscol.tipperary.gaa.ie/. The success of this competition is very much dependant on the response we get from the children in schools. I would encourage all teachers to have writing competitions and to pick a winning entry and submit it to Tipperary Cumann na mBunscol PRO John Manley of Dualla NS at pro.cnmb.tipperary@gaa.ie. I will then attempt to pick a winning entry. The pupil’s match report will then appear in the “Reporter of the Week” section of our website and the winner’s name will also be announced on Tipp FM. The following criteria should be adhered to:

·         Entry is to be typed and emailed to: pro.cnmb.tipperary@gaa.ie

·         Capital Letters should be used for each name in the title.

·         Font Style: Verdana Size: 10

·         It must be formatted and spell checked. There must be a space after full stops and commas.

·         Match Report should have a title: e.g. “O’ Sullivan The Hero In Historic Victory For TIPPERARY C.B.S. “

·         Match Report should contain Score, Venue, Referee’s Name and Teamlist(s) where possible.

·         Praise should be given to both teams.

·         No paragraphs.

·         It should be proof-read and checked for grammatical errors.

·         It should be no longer than 200 words.

·         Pupil’s name, school, teacher and class should accompany entry. It must be emailed by your teacher, school principal or school secretary.
