On 5 October, St John the Baptist BNS played Gaelscoil Durlas in an exciting game of football. Cashel’s captain Michael Morrissey and vice captain Sean Ryan led them out onto the field.  Gaelscoil Durlas got the first score of the game playing with a strong breeze.  For Cashel, Jamie O Keeffe, Rodrigo Goncalves,  Murragh McDermot, Eoghan Connolly and Scott Scanlon got the scores in the first half. At half time, Cashel were up 5-4 to 0-1. Cashel made a lot of changes at half time.  In the second half, Gaelscoil Durlas were on the attack and Sean Ryan made a magnificent block down from what looked like a certain goal.  It was probably one of the best block downs of the match. The blocking down of both teams was very good throughout as was the kicking and handpassing.  Cashel got the upper hand early in the second half with scores from Jak Hayes, Luke Quinlan, Tomás Skeffington and Gabrielle Perera.  Gaelscoil Durlas then began to up their game and put the Cashel defence under pressure scoring some lovely goals.  Eventually, after a good battle, Cashel ran out winners on a scoreline of of 7-6 to 3-4. Cashel are happy now that they have won their first game.  Next up for both teams is another tough challenge against Holycross.
