A chara,

Please find enclosed your school’s Under 11 and Under 13 Hurling/Camogie fixtures for 2011. Please also find enclosed the Information regarding this year’s Primary Game Selection Process. I will, very shortly, be sending John Manley an email with all the referees in Tipperary, and their phone numbers. John will then email all the schools with the contacts, as promised at the AGM.

I will also be emailing all the schools with the Timetable for County Final Day in Semple Stadium, very shortly, so keep an eye out for those emails. They will also be on our website.

This year in Semple Stadium we will continue with the policy of mentors having to wear bibs on the sideline. There will only be 5 bibs per school, so the maximum amount of non-players any team can have on the sideline is 5.

We will be increasing the amount of referees on County Finals days from 2 to 4. We will have 4 paid umpires for EACH game. We will be operating  the scoreboard in the Stadium aswell, for each game.

This year we have an increase from 17 to 26 County Finals over 2 days. It is a huge undertaking to run 26 County Finals over 2 days, so we would ask all schools to co-operate fully with us on all matters. We will be running all our Under 11 County Finals on the Thursday. This will be our “Under 11 Go Games Festival of Hurling/Camogie”. WE HOPE ALL THE SCHOOLS ENJOY OUR NEW UNDER 11 GAMES. There has been an incredible demand for this new Under 11 concept, with 82 teams entering this year’s Under 11 Hurling. This is compared to 51 last year (an increase in 31 schools in 12 months). The Under 11 Camogie has also increased from last year.

Please note that the INTO Mini Sevens Hurling / Camogie Fixtures will be sent out very shortly, in a separate letter.

It is vital that we embrace the Respect initiative, whereby all teachers and mentors lead by example and treat our referees with the upmost respect, regardless of ANY decision they make. It is vital that we, in Cumann na mBunscol, set the proper example so that the next generation will treat referees, and officials, with the respect they deserve. I we fail to do so we will have let down this generation of children. We must stop the current trend of verbally abusing referees, and questioning every single decision a referee makes. This needs to be done as a matter of urgency.

If you have any queries regarding any Cumann na mBunscol issue please contact me on 0876578057 (mobile), or 0526135400 (school).

Le meas,
