Fixture details have been emailed to all schools by Secretary Aodán Wrenn. The first school on each fixture should make initial contact to arrange matches. Schools are encouraged to adhere to the dates of play set out in the fixtures so that county finals can proceed on time. All schools are also reminded to text results of each match to the Secretary in a timely fashion. Go n-éirí an t-ádh libh!

The U-11 football and ladies football Go Games fixtures for 2013 were forwarded to all schools recently. The majority of these blitzes have been successfully played at various locations throughout the county. Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol would like to thank everyone who helped in the smooth running of these competitions from co-ordinators to referees and individual schools who took part in the competitions. Co-ordinators are reminded to text the details of the winner of each blitz to Secretary Aodán Wrenn on 087-6578057 as soon as available. I would encourage schools to send match reports on blitzes they have taken part in. Reporter of the Week section has more information on format etc. The best of luck to all teams as they advance to semi-finals and county finals in these competitions.

Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol have decided to hold all the County Football Finals (u13 and u11) on the week directly after the mid-term break. That means the finals will be played during the week ending Friday 8th November. Venues and times for county finals will be forwarded to all schools in the coming week. Please ensure that all matches up to and including Divisional Finals and County Semi Finals have been played by Friday 25th October, the day schools finish for the mid-term break.

A reminder to all schools that the closing date to send entries to provisional representatives is Thursday 24th October. Details of categories have been forwarded to all schools in recent weeks. Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol would encourage as many schools as possible to enter various categories of interest to them.

After several queries on certain rules when playing in Cumann na mBunscol matches, a reminder was sent to schools in relation to play of the ball and square ball rules. For both football and ladies football at U-13 and U-11 only two plays of the ball are permitted, i.e. one hop and one solo OR two solos. In addition to this, schools are reminded that the square ball rule applies in Cumann na mBunscol matches. Finally, a reminder that girls can play on the boys football teams at U-11 and U-13 level but must follow boy’s rules.

Schools are reminded of the importance of mouthguards for all children participating in Cumann na mBunscol matches. All boys training for and playing Gaelic football must wear mouthguards at all times. Girls playing Ladies Football and training for Ladies Football are not obliged to wear mouthguards until the 1st of January 2014. However, girls playing football on boy's teams will have to wear mouthguards from now. For P.E. lessons undertaken by the teacher or un-organised football sessions, such as at break times, it is at the discretion of the school as to whether mouthguards are to be used.

On the 8th of October St. Colmcille’s met Monastery CBS in Boherlann. Conditions were perfect with no side having to play against the wind. Ferghal Horan, the ref for the day, threw the ball in at exactly 12.15 and within a minute Monastery CBS had scored their first point. But we didn’t let that knock our confidence. We travelled down the pitch and levelled the game with a beautiful point from Martin Bergin. We kept the ball amongst our forwards for most of their first half with Killian Fennell playing a major role. We got points from Ciarán McCormack, Lorcan Roche and Diarmuid Delaney. We led by 4 points to 1 when we got a well-executed goal which began with a great catch from Darragh Doyle who hand passed it to Stephen Cahill, who in turn passed it to James Corcoran for a one two. Stephen then made a pinpoint pass to Martin Bergin who passed it onto Lorcan Roche and Lorcan put it in the back of the net. We led by 1 goal 4 points to Monastery’s 3 points at half time. The start of the second half saw Monastery getting a goal which put a point in the difference. St Colmcille’s took their foot off the pedal which allowed Monastery to come right back into the game. Our second goal came from a high ball into Ali Aissou which drove into the bottom right corner. Ciarán McCormack and Ewan Scott got 2 points at a crucial time. Monastery CBS never gave up and won a penalty which stuck in the back of the net. With 1 minute left to play and St. Colmcilles were a point up, could we hold on? The ref awarded Monastery CBS a 45 which was fisted out by Darragh Doyle, picked up by Marco Quinlan and driven down the field. The whistle blew for full time and there were roars all around from players, mentors and parents as the final score read St. Colmcilles 2-06 Monastery CBS 2-05. By Conor Cadell. Team as follows: S. Sweeney, E. Quinn, D. Doyle, S. Cahill, J. Nevin, M. Quinlan, J. Corcoran, C. Cadell, L. Roche (1-1), K Fennell, E. Scott (0-1), D. Delaney (0-1), C. McCormack (0-2), M. Bergin (0-1) and A. Aissou (1-0).
